An extension is judged at the joint. We set the new work to the existing elevation so the transition is flush, detail the connection so the two slabs can move independently, and plan how the new edge meets lawn, beds, or gravel. Preparation under the new area matters just as much as the connection itself.

Extensions are priced from the site rather than a rate card. Two additions of identical square footage can differ once access, removal, drainage, and intended loading are accounted for, so we write the estimate after walking the property.

Tying New Concrete Into an Existing Driveway

An extension is defined by its connection. Where new concrete meets old, we plan the joint at the tie-in, set the new work to the existing elevation so there's no lip to catch a tire or a foot, and detail the edge so the two slabs can move independently — because they will. The existing driveway has already done most of its settling; the new pour has not.

Appearance follows the same logic. Concrete poured today will not match concrete poured years ago, even with the same finish and mix, and it will continue to differ as both weather. Rather than chase a match, we often recommend making the transition deliberate — a saw-cut line, a banded border, or a change in texture that reads as design instead of as a patch.

Drainage, Property Lines and Approvals

Adding concrete changes where water goes. A wider driveway sheds more runoff, and that water needs a path that doesn't send it toward the house, into a neighbor's yard, or into a low spot that already holds after storms. How an Extension Project Runs

Aftercare

Using and Maintaining the New Area

New concrete needs time before it carries weight, and heavier vehicles need more of it. We give timing specific to your pour and your intended loads at the walkthrough.

What we ask of you

  • Wait for the cure timing we give you before parking, especially for RVs, trailers, and loaded vehicles
  • Keep the joint at the tie-in clear of packed soil and debris
  • Avoid dropping trailer jacks or stabilizers on unsupported slab edges
  • Keep irrigation from spraying continuously onto the new surface where possible
  • Rinse fuel, oil, and hydraulic spills rather than letting them sit
