Base and Edge Restraint Decide the Outcome
Almost every failed paver installation traces back to the same two things: a base that wasn't compacted properly and edges that weren't restrained. The units themselves rarely fail. What fails is what's under and beside them.
The base has to be excavated to the right depth for the intended use, built in layers, and compacted so it doesn't consolidate later under traffic. The edge restraint holds the outer units in position so the field can't creep outward — because once the perimeter spreads, the joints inside open and the pattern loses its lock.

- Base built and compacted in layers rather than in one lift
- Bedding layer screeded to a consistent thickness under the units
- Edge restraint at every free edge, including curves and steps
- Joint sand installed and compacted so the field locks together
- Drainage planned so water leaves the surface and the base
