Common requests
These are situations that come up often here. They are not universal — every property is different, and what is right for one lot is not automatically right for the next.
Older Cypress subdivisions have driveways that have carried decades of vehicles and soil movement. Some are candidates for replacement, others for resurfacing — that is decided after looking at the slab, not from the age of the house.
Builder-standard drives are often narrower than families end up needing. Widening adds usable width along one or both sides and is tied into the existing slab with a deliberate joint.
A separate parking pad, a turnaround, or added surface for a third vehicle or a work truck, planned around property lines, drainage and how the space is actually used.
Extending a small builder slab into a patio that fits real furniture is one of the most common requests we scope in Cypress.
Where the deck slab is sound, resurfacing changes texture and appearance without rebuilding the area around the pool.
Stamped patterns, borders, saw-cut detail and integral color used on patios, walkways and entries where a broom finish is not the goal.

Segmental paving as an alternative to poured concrete, where base preparation and edge restraint do most of the long-term work.

Planning
These factors most often change a scope here. Each one is evaluated on the specific property rather than applied as a universal rule.
New concrete changes where water goes. Slopes are planned so runoff leaves the surface and moves away from the house and the neighboring property rather than collecting at an edge.
Where a yard sits higher or lower than the planned surface, the edge detail, regrading or added drainage becomes part of the scope rather than an afterthought.
Clay soils across this part of northwest Harris County move with moisture change. Subgrade prep, jointing and reinforcement are decided per property instead of applying one universal detail.
Gate widths, side yards, corner lots and shared drives determine whether material can be delivered directly or has to be moved to the work area, which changes both method and schedule.
Tying new work to an existing driveway, porch or slab requires a plan for elevation matching and jointing so the two sections can move independently.
Roots, canopy and irrigation near the work area influence where an edge should sit and what has to be protected during the pour.
What will park on or cross the surface drives thickness and reinforcement. A passenger-car pad and an RV pad are not the same specification.

Where subdivision review, permitting or utility locates apply, those steps are completed before a pour date is set.
Removal, grading, base work, forming and reinforcement are completed and checked, then placement and finishing are scheduled around weather and cure conditions.
We walk the finished work with you, clean the site, and review curing and when the surface can carry normal use.
